Damita Jo was envied for her charming persona, eclectic performances, breathtaking beauty, and her magnificent voice. She became famous with the hit record "I Went To Your Wedding". The seminal works of her career, "I'll Save the Last Dance for You" & "I'll Be There", dominated the radio waves and the Billboard Pop chart. Despite having shared the stage with incomparable musicians such as Ray Charles, Count Basie, in the 1980s Damita switched to gospel music for the remainder of her career.
